Treat these as rough bands, not a promise. In many North Indian cities a 5000-litre private tanker might be ₹800 to ₹1,800 in winter and ₹1,500 to ₹3,500 in hard summer. Mini 3000-litre loads might move from ₹600–₹1,400 to ₹1,200–₹2,500. Some Rajasthan wards with long empty stretches quote above that when the bowser travels far. A few dense wards stay lower if a filling point is close. Rates vary by ward, by diesel, and by whether the well still yields.
Municipal or jal board tankers, when they still run, may sit around ₹400 to ₹1,200 depending on the circular. Ask the ward every summer. The photocopy on last year’s notice board is often dead.
20-litre drinking jars often stay in a ₹20 to ₹50 band plus bottle deposit. They do not replace a roof tank. They keep the kitchen honest while you wait.
